Our Entrepreneurs

Our Valleys / Nuestros Valles Magazine
- Bilingual publication in the Valleys Area of Los Angeles County.

Power Woman Business Center (PWBC) took on the project of developing a plan for Patsy Ayala’s bilingual magazine idea. As a member of PWBC, Our Valleys Magazine utilized the expertise and advice of Patricia and Tony Gracia (founders of Power Media Group and Power Woman Business Center) and PWBC’s tools to successfully launch the magazine. The magazine itself targets American-based companies that want to expand and advertise in the Hispanic market. The relationship between Power Woman Business Center and Our Valleys Magazine began in November, 2010 and by December of that year they launched the magazine’s first issue.
An entrepreneur’s dream launch pad, the PWBC facility provides office equipment (telephones, computers, Internet, fax machines), a conference room and kitchen; not to mention Patricia’s commitment to providing her members constant guidance.

As Patsy Ayala, owner of Our Valleys Magazine, states, “Patricia and Tony helped me develop a strategic plan, suggested events to attend for networking, explained the importance of being active in the social and media world, and introduced me to key people. They were with me every step of the way.”

Now, over a year later, Our Valleys Magazine has quickly accelerated as a multimedia bilingual advertising and networking concept that encompasses print, radio, Internet, social media and live networking to promote the Hispanic culture and continues to build bridges between the English and Spanish markets. With its success, Our Valleys Magazine has been awarded as New Business of the Year 2011 by the Santa Clarita Valley Latino Chamber of Commerce and has been nominated to the SCV Leadership Awards 2012. It is the official communication media for the SCV Latino Chamber of Commerce.

Elliot Kim
- Piano teacher.

Tony and Patricia are illuminating and inspirational. With Power Woman Business Center, they know how to help others stay focused and reach for success.
Piano instructor, Elliot Kim, has been a member of Power Woman Business Center since June of 2012. He discovered the Center by driving by the facility and since become a member who dedicates his life’s work to continuing to teach his students. Using the Center as a means to advance his mission, Elliot has the time to also focus on developing his project in online instruction.
Apart from being a member, he also donates his time and piano skills to various PWBC events.

Joan Wagner
Jazzercise- .

Joan Wagner has been teaching Jazzercise for over 25 years and was in need of a facility in the Santa Clarita Valleyto continue teaching her clients. She was referred to Patricia Gracia in July of 2012 through Patsy Ayala, of Our Valleys Magazine, and it was an instant connection. As a current member, Joan is able to use the facility with all its amenities thus allowing her Jazzercise clients to have the best experience each time they come in. Her classes are doing very well, with 20-30 people in attendance.

Joining Power Woman Business Center has become an asset for me—it gave me the space I needed to continue doing what I love.

ARLEEN ORLAND
- Santa Clarita Technology & Career Development Center

Even before she had her first computer - a Commodore 64 that only did basic word processing and played a few games - Arleen Orland already loved the machines.
Something about computers intrigued her and hit the right buttons, so it was only a matter of time before she found her true calling as a computer teacher. After teaching at several schools for the past 11 years, including College of the Canyons where she worked as an adjunct teacher for computer classes in the Community Services Department, Arleen finally decided to follow her dream of opening up her own computer school. Joining the Power Woman Business Center was the first step towards realizing that dream which she nurtured for the past 11 years. “Technology changes daily and being trained in the newest most up to date equipment and programs is so important in today’s world,” she says. “It can mean the difference between having a job or not.”

When I see my student’s light bulb go off and I know they’ve understood, that’s what encourages me and gives me the most joy.
Arleen’s school, the Santa Clarita Technology & Career Development Center seeks to teach adults who need the computer skills necessary to join the workforce. Her classes cover Microsoft Office and programs such as Internet, Career Readiness, and Social Networking among others. “My goal is to grow my business and help those that need my services obtain better jobs.”

LETICIA HERNANDEZ
- Herbalife/ Healthy Sports Group

Leticia Hernandez lost 16 pounds in one month and went from a size 9 to a size 4 after using products by Herbalife, a wellness company that offers high-quality nutrition, weight-management and personal-care products. That personal success inspired her to join the team of 1.8 million Herbalife Independent Distributors in more than 70 countries selling Herbalife products worldwide.
For the past nine years, Leticia has helped others reach their weight goals while at the same time supplementing her income through the sale of Herbalife products.
“It’s a great way to help others lead a healthy lifestyle while at the same time it’s a way for me to make a living,” she said. Through nutrition classes and nutrition clubs that she hosts at the Power Woman Business Center every morning, Leticia shares her knowledge of Herbalife products, which offer both a calorie-controlled and a carbohydrate-controlled approach to weight management. Based on Cellular Nutrition, Herbalife's weight-management programs, she says, help people feel better, have more energy and maintain a healthy weight for life.

I want to be an example that everything is possible. There’s always a door that will open. You just have to go out there and do it.
For Leticia, her work with Herbalife has also become a family affair. Her two sons, Jorge and Omar help her host the breakfast clubs every morning and are also experts on all things Herbalife nutrition.
